What a dream day! We spent our whole day exploring and experiencing romantic Como at the southern tip of Lake Como. Located in the foothills of the Alps, Como is known for its wonderful art, palaces, churches, theaters, gardens and museums.

Pasta Making at Home
Traveling to Como
After breakfast at the Grand Hotel Des Iles Borromees, we traveled by motor coach to Como. But a bus ride with Disney is an adventure in itself!! Along the way, we learned about our destination, snacked, sang and played games.
Italian Cooking Class
In our first event of the day we studied the art of pasta-making at a beautiful 17th century villa on the banks of Lake Como.
With just one peek into the private garden where our class was to be held, I knew we were in for an experience of a lifetime!
We each had a pasta making station set up, and we kicked things off with some bubbles in this stunning setting!
Chef Stefano taught us how to make gnocci and tagliatelle, with Marcello acting as our translator! It was SUCH a fun morning and we are all inspired to try this back home.
After class we moved just inside for an Italian feast made by Stefano and his family / team! It was absolutely divine, and the culmination of a morning that felt like “pinch me now” magical at every turn.
Lake Como Boat Cruise
Next, we embarked on an exclusive boat tour of one of Italy’s most famous lakes. Words can hardly describe the poetic scenery, dotted with Baroque and Neoclassic villas, Romanesque churches, lush gardens and small medieval villages—all under the proud reach of the magnificent Alps. Our step on guide was just incredible – her family having lived in Como for 7 generations. Having these types of guides to share the stories, culture and tales is just incredible.
We stopped for the most picturesque visit the Gardens of Villa del Balbianello, famous for its elaborate terraced gardens. Built on the site of a monastery in 1787, this gorgeous spot has served as a location for feature films, including Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones, where it was the lake retreat where the clandestine marriage of Padmé Amidala and Anakin Skywalker took place.

Our late afternoon was free to explore Como on our own!
Visini Dinner
Our day in Como concluded with a family-style Italian dinner back with Chef Stefan. We’ve officially reached the point in the trip where the teens all made friends and tables were mixed up with families from all over the US. It was a GREAT night!
