Last Sunday Supper of Summer

And just like that, we were at the last day of summer for Whit. It was a drizzly day with rare cool August temps for Georgia, so in lieu of swimming and sunning, the boys and I cozied up in sweatshirts and blankets and headed off to the movies. We saw Fantastic Four, which was – for lack of a better word – fantastic. Try as I might, I still cannot get them to let me dump the box of Goobers into the popcorn. HA!

Honey was working in the basement (he’s not a theater fan), so on our return we found him making Whit’s dinner request. Smash burgers on the Blackstone it was! We dined on the porch enjoying the cool evening.

And for dessert? Derby pie – the perfect sweetest ending as we race into a new school year. I set the table in the kitchen up with a banner I made before his freshman year and other festive decor to kick off Junior year.

I hope you’re able to soak up these last days of summer and that the start of your school year is a wonderful one. Let’s do this!

  1. For some reason, this summer really seemed to fly by! Most of our schools don’t start until next week with the exception of a few year round schools in the area. Best of luck to Whit in his junior year and John in his second year of college. My great nephew starts middle school this year so there is some apprehension on his part which I can understand. Time is flying by!!
