Adventures by Disney {Germany Day 7: Berlin}

After a hearty breakfast at the Regent Berlin, we were off to explore Germany’s capital city.  Berlin is a trendy and edgy city, from its fashion to its architecture to it s charged political history.

WALKING TOUR OF BERLIN

We met up with our Adventure Guides and set out on a walking tour of the eastern part of this stunning city.   Our first stop was the Brandenburg Gate where we took some funny photos looking like our Adventure Guides and an Ampelmann.

We also visited Checkpoint Charlie.

The Holocaust Memorial was a very powerful site, with a few different interpretations that our step on guide explained to us.

We also visited the East Side Gallery in a remaining section of The Berlin Wall. The graffiti art that now covers its remnants has become symbolic of social progress.

LUNCH AT DOM CURRY

We enjoyed a delicious lunch of currywurst, the quintessential Berlin specialty, at this outdoor eatery.  I loved it!

STREET ART TOUR AND GRAFFITI WORKSHOP

After lunch we were introduced to two more step on guides that treated us to a fascinating introduction to Berlin’s vibrant history of street art.  We particularly loved the stop at Gendarmenmarkt.

The tour will ended at Humboldthain Music Club – a night club – for a Graffiti workshop.  It was SO much fun and everyone had a blast creating their art with coaching by the step on guides.  The music, disco balls and of course beer all made for a creative and inspiring place.

RITTER SPORT CHOCOLATE EXPERIENCE

We ended our day as a group with the Ritter Sport Chocolate Experience!  The Junior Adventurers got to create their own unique Ritter Sport chocolates – personalized from ingredients to wrapping – in a private workshop.

Meanwhile, the adults were treated to our own mini chocolate activity where we got to create our bars by choosing the chocolates and ingredients.  I went with milk chocolate, hazelnuts, caramelized almonds and dried raspberries.  It was SO good.  While the experts bring it to life, the adults were treated to refreshments in the cafe.  I ordered a praline cappuccino and Kaleigh and I split the Bailey’s Chocolate fondue.  Both were delicious.

DINNER ON YOUR OWN IN BERLIN

We were on our own for dinner and, at the recommendation of our guides, found a quaint table tucked away in the Sagrantinao Wine Bar.  We enjoyed a cheese plate, salads and glass of wine for the perfect end to an adventurous day.
