Like so many of you, I too have been praying for all affected by the horrific and senseless Orlando massacre last weekend. It took some time to write this. Not because I didn’t care, but rather because it is so hard to understand and so terrifying to think about. Selfishly, I guarded my heart.
We don’t have cable, so the littles, thankfully, do not know about this latest attack on our country. And while I don’t have any answers or solutions or really anything but prayers, I did want to share the one thing that has brought the tiniest bit of solace after so many of the other senseless tragedies our nation has faced since 9/11…
When you see all the helpers – the first responders, the blood donors, the guy on the street, the companies, the families, the volunteers – you remember that there IS hope and there IS good in this world and that LOVE IS STRONGER THAN HATE. Love is love is love is love.
Orlando is a city near and dear to our heart, as you all likely know. It’s a place we retreat to for magic and happiness and inspiration and family. We have many friends in Orlando and, thankfully, all are safe.
I will continue to pray. For the lives lost. For all affected by the massacre. For Orlando. For the LGBT community. For our country. For our future. We are not promised a perfect life on earth, but rather a perfect life in Heaven. Even so, I pray my littles can go just a little longer without knowing such hatred and tragedy.
xoxo
