We had such a FUN evening celebrating our friend S’s 40th birthday this past weekend. I had been in cahoots with his wife for months on end and it was just wonderful to finally see all of her hard work come to fruition. She held the event at the lovely St. Cecilia in Buckhead, and she had little old me do the invitations and favors.
S loves his Hershey Kisses, so the favor was easy peasy. Mother helped me put these together while she was here. She’s pretty much a life saver.
It seems most of our nights out these days are to celebrate the big 4-0. It’s funny how we go through seasons in life. The wedding season. The 30th birthday season. The baby shower season. And, just like that, we’re at the 40th birthday season. I remember working nights as a lifeguard on hire for 40th birthday parties in high school. Those folks seemed positively ancient.
Our go-to gift for the guys is Forty Creek Whiskey. Bestie S gave the same thing to Honey on his 40th and we thought it was quite clever. Tie it up with a cheers tag from my sweet friend calliespondence and no further wrapping is necessary!
It was SO good to get dressed up and go out. We had a lovely time!!
I’ve always wanted to throw a surprise party. Perhaps for the season of fifty…
xoxo
