Stickers!

I’ve mentioned it before and I’ll mention it again.  My parents absolutely positively cannot come to Atlanta without carting a trunk load of my long (and quite intentionally) forgotten possessions of yore across the state.  From Cabbage Patch Kids and Barbies to old pointe shoes and well loved doll house furniture, it’s always interesting to see what sorts of things they’ll dredge up next.  This time it was… wait for it … my STICKER book.  A book full of THIRTY year old stickers, of all things.  And as I’m marching this once coveted and much poured over piece of my childhood straight to the trash, the littles go mad clamoring over its contents.

So, I sit down for a spell and look through it.  Lo and behold, if it doesn’t paint a picture in time of the things I loved and enjoyed as a five year old Georgia peach.  There are oodles of cats, pages of Cabbage Patch Kids, tons of Pound Puppies and loads of scratch and sniffs (that still smell!).  There are googly eyes, some of the fuzzy variety, tons of my name, Garfield, Smurfs, unicorns and glow in the darks.  All purposefully and sweetly adhered and still in tact in my once beloved sticker book.

After pouring through it and sharing it with the littles, I surprised them each with their very own book.  It’s not nearly as fancy of mine once was, but gets the job done and literally had them over the moon!  Just a three ring binder with a few sheet protectors filled with colored card stock.  I started their collections with some Sponge Bob puffy stickers and am excited to see how they’ll fill it up over the weeks (and years?) to come.

With that, I owe my parents a little less eye-rolling and a lot more “thanks for saving my stuff” from here on out.  And my very own sticker book has now found a permanent and worthy new home along side some of our favorite reads on the play room bookshelves.

We’re off to lunch with bestie S and her little C!!  Oh, and I’m plum tickled to be guest posting over at Not So Homemade today.  Pop over to say hi :-)

Ten Years Later

Ten years have passed.  God willing, many more will.  And I will never forget… Today, and every day, I pray for that day’s heroes, those that made the ultimate sacrifice and for all Americans. Humbled and proud to live in the U.S.A… xoxo By dixiedelights | Filed under Uncategorized | Tags: holidays Share

We All Scream

…for ICE CREAM!!! And, after one of our last swims of the summer, I dished it up super-special-like… The cutest little mini ice cream cones (left over from our lemonade stand) were dipped in melted chocolate, rolled in sprinkles, topped with homemade (hence the runniness) vanilla ice cream and decorated with a pink jelly bean… Read More
