November first around these parts means the spooky decor comes down and our Give Thanks tree goes up. For three years now we’ve each taken a minute out of our day to write down something for which we are thankful.

I made the tree before my blogging days so I don’t have a tutorial. I really just freehanded it. The base is a strip of ivory felt. I cut brown burlap freehand to look like the tree trunk and limbs and similarly cut dark green felt to make the leaves. Fabric remnants were used to cut out “give thanks” I used fabric glue to put it all together and it’s held up great!

The littles helped cut the leaves out construction paper so you’ll start to see all sorts of interestingly shaped specimens going up over the next few days. We just use a little scotch tape to stick them on each day.

While I was hanging up the tree, the littles were happy as clams in their playroom. I couldn’t pass up an opportunity to share their smiling faces with y’all :-)
This is one of my favorite holiday traditions and a great reminder of everything we have to be thankful for!

Mother Makes
Mother makes the most darling clothes for the baby and cousin Bird and I often fail to get them up on the blog. When I unpacked the PCP’s hand-me-downs for this season, I found a slew of pants that were screaming for cute tops and couple of appliqued shortalls that I knew the baby would… Read More
Fall Family Wedding
We spent a gorgeous fall Saturday up on the lake in Tennessee for Sister’s sister-in-law’s wedding. It was a lovely afternoon and the first wedding we’ve been to in quite some time. I loved the bridesmaids gowns and flowers (and I think that Sister looked positively radiant). The sweet little flower girls dropped fall leaves,… Read More
