The Southern Porch Screened {Before & After}

August 4, 2013July 18, 2017

UPDATED 2017 PORCH >> CLICK HERE for recent changes and sources! AS SEEN IN:   Ever since we first finished the porch last year, we hemmed and hawed over whether or not to screen it in. That was the original intent, after all, but we loved how open it was without the screens so much that… Read More

Honey Does: DIY Flat Screen TV Cabinet

January 18, 2013January 24, 2017

Y’all, I am positively thrilled to have Honey with us today sharing one of his recent DIY projects.  So, without further ado, I turn over the reins to Honey… I know that Amanda recently shared the two paintings we had our family friend, Mary Pratt, paint for her Christmas present.  One of the things I… Read More

China Cabinet Crush

November 19, 2012February 10, 2023

After a three year hunt for the perfect piece to sit between the windows in our bedroom, Honey got me this gorg antique china cabinet for my birthday back in March.  I know… a bedroom seems a strange place for a china cabinet but she’s quite petite, antique, was priced right ($100 on Craigslist) and… Read More

Big Boy Room {Before & After}

November 2, 2012August 6, 2017

Whit’s big boy room has been done for about a week but with all the Halloween craziness I just now found the time to write it all up!  For posterity’s sake, here’s a little reminder of the “before before”… Here’s the “before” – the sweet nursery where the baby spent his first three years on… Read More

Coffee Table Nautical Chart {Porch Projects}

July 16, 2012August 20, 2015

Last June I fell in love with this coffee table at Savannah must-shop One Fish Two Fish. Retailing at just under two-thousand (eek) I knew then and there that I would recreate it one day. And the new porch was the perfect place! I could hardly believe my luck when I ran across the Morgan… Read More

The Longest Chair Redo in History

February 29, 2012January 24, 2017

I’ve had this ghastly chair lurking in the corner of my bedroom(s) for ten years. circa 2004 (there are so many tragic elements to this picture) circa 2008 And finally, at long last, I have had the darned thing recovered.  It’s asinine that I spent just under 30% of my life fretting over picking a… Read More

Some nights just deserve a place on the grid. 🎻⚡️ Some nights just deserve a place on the grid. 🎻⚡️

Whit had the incredible honor of learning from and performing on stage with Mark Wood… original electric violinist for Trans-Siberian Orchestra, creator of the iconic Viper electric violin and composer known for blending classical music with rock energy in the most unforgettable way.

And unforgettable is exactly what this night was.

Symphonic rock. Hard rock. Heavy metal. A full stage of student musicians absolutely pouring their hearts into every note with so much confidence, passion and energy.

And then there was Whit… featured cellist during Carry On Wayward Son, which already held a spot on my all-time favorites list before this night. Watching him up there completely in his element was one of those proud mom moments I know I’ll hold onto forever.

I know this video is long and maybe a little “mom scrapbook” coded… but this one deserved its square among the memories and adventures.🤍
