Classic Christmas Home Tour 2021 {Den + Powder Room}

I’m back today with a video and photo tour of my personal favorite Christmas room of the lot – our den. For good measure, I’m also throwing in a peek at the (very hard to photograph) powder room.

Family Room Classic Christmas Decor

Along with the kitchen, our den and office are the most used rooms of the house. I love to make them as merry and festive as possible.

You can take a rather lengthy video tour here, and then continue with the still photos below.

I’ve had most of my holiday decor for years, and only add or change a couple of things from year to year. I mostly stick to very traditional greenery and colors throughout our home at the holidays.

The tree in our family room holds all of our favorite ornaments.  From little snowmen crafted by tiny hands to ornaments carried home from special vacations, this tree is loaded with memories.  It is always a joy to unbox them at the start of each Christmas season!  This year we added ornaments from Wyoming, Montana, Disney World’s 50th Anniversary, Breckenridge and Baltimore.

Over at the fireplace, the stockings are collected from Ballard Designs over the years as our family grew.  The wood monograms on the stockings are from Scrappin Plus. I mentioned on the tour already that I simplified some elements that drove me crazy in the past. One was the garland on the mantle!

One of my favorite Christmas things is the magic light wand that is set up to turn on our den tree and garland.  I have given them as gifts a few times and the recipients always, always love them.  <3  All of my other trees are on this Remote Tree Switch.  It is one of the best investments I’ve ever made!!

The coffee table always gets a festive flower arrangement, a bowl of candy, a fragrant candle, the boy’s Santa photo and seasonal magazines.  Find my favorite Christmas candle HERE. I’ve used this scent for three years now and love it!

As I unpack my Christmas decor, I repack the boxes with decorative items I use the rest of the year. I love to swap out our framed photos with the boy’s Santa pictures from over the years. Get all of my tips and tricks for arranging flowers in THIS VIDEO!

My plaid pillows were all collected over the years at Homegoods.  The tree pillows are from Everyday Occasions and the Pendleton blanket was my souvenir from Alaska, made especially for the McKinley Lodge at Denali National Park!

Over in the corner, you can see the Christmas wreath painting my mother and I made a few years ago.  This is also home to our  record player that is almost always spinning with the Elf soundtrack vinyl.

Like Mother, I love tucking holiday books all over the house.  I have spent many Christmas holidays snuggled by the fire reading one of her many Christmas stories. These sit on the garden stool at the end of the sofa.

Whit carried home his small group’s prayer box over Thanksgiving and it has been the sweetest season to lift his little friends up in prayer every evening.

You can see more Santa pictures on the pie crust table, as well as some fun glasses we brought home from Disney years ago that change Christmas lights into things like reindeer and snowmen!

Just like at Halloween, the banquette gets a puzzle for Christmas too!  This one is from the Disney Store. Mother made the boys’ silhouette pillows years ago.  They move around the house frequently.

I had our Christmas card picture printed onto a board a couple of years ago (Shutterfly) and absolutely love it displayed here.

The mugs were from my etsy shop a few years ago. I love to find special holiday treats to use all season long – Trader Joe’s and WalMart usually have great choices.

Over on the TV wall the antlers really work this time of year, although they are a permanent fixture in the room.  :-)

This year I have my grandma’s shiny brites in one of Mother’s old siver trays.  I love seeing them here and that they aren’t just lost on the tree.

I added a few brass jingle bells from Everyday Occasions tied with 1″ Red Velvet Ribbon last year.

The last little piece of the den is over on the wall next to the kitchen.  This precious nativity was from the BlessedMommaToBabyGirls Instagram sale last year. This was my single new addition to Christmas 2021!

I am still just so happy with our kitchen update this summer. Leveling out the peninsula gives me this beautiful view all the way from the kitchen straight through the den.

Powder Room Classic Christmas Decor

Finally, a quick peek at the powder room. This room is tiny and extremely hard to photograph! But, you get the gist. I added a small wreath (Hobby Lobby) to the mirror with a red velvet bow.

Holiday soaps, monogrammed guest towels and red roses keep things easy and festive.

I’ll continue the tour later this week! In the mean time, I have a fun little soiree to share!
