I love a good holiday cookie and I adore baking for the family. Well, even with all the fun, in-depth, fancy treats I put on the table, the boys’ favorite Valentine’s Day cookies come from a mix. Sure, you could do homemade, but why fix what’s not broken?!
Peanut Butter + Chocolate Heart Cookies
1 pouch (1 lb 1.5 oz) Betty Crocker peanut butter cookie mix
3 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 tablespoon water
1 egg
2 tablespoons sugar – I used PINK!
Bag of heart-shaped Dove chocolates (I love the dark chocolate
- Heat oven to 375°F. In medium bowl, stir cookie mix, oil, water and egg until dough forms.
- Shape dough into 36 (1-inch) balls; roll in sugar. Place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets.
- Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until light golden brown. Immediately press chocolate candy into top of each cookie. Remove from cookie sheets to cooling racks. Cool completely, about 20 minutes, before storing in tightly covered container. We only got 24 cookies out of ours, but I think they were perfectly sized! Also, go ahead and use the time while the cookies bake to unwrap the chocolates so that they get pressed into the cookies while still piping hot.
This recipe is really easy and something younger kids can very handily help out with.
Have a great week ahead!
