We are almost at two years since we reimagined this room and I have yet to share “everyday” photos and sources. I promise to prioritize that in the new year.
We have so enjoyed this room and it makes much more sense to us than a formal living room did. It’s where both boys tend to land to watch TV and where we gather after dinner.
It was fun to decorate this space for the first time last year. The only real change I made in year two was swapping red ribbon for green. I love nothing more than a white twinkle light during this season of magic so I added cedar-like garlands and lights to the tops of the bookcases.
I took down all of the photos and replaced them with my collection of eighteen years of Santa memories. Each one is in a silver frame, collected over the years, and is stored away until the Christmas season. I love having them all on display and putting them out was a precious walk down memory lane.
I like to keep the decor on the table tops simple because we live in and use this room daily – for living, entertaining, games, puzzles and whatnot. On the sideboard, I often set out food and drinks. For the holidays, I have one silver tray with our German smokers, a candle and favorite card games. I found the gorgeous image for the Frame TV on etsy. I added greenery and ribbons to the sconces like I’ve done for many years.
The only thing I have on the coffee table is the Christmas Pyramid I purchased in Germany. It clears off in seconds for games and puzzles! A keen eye might notice I am missing many of the candles – somehow I couldn’t locate them this year.
In each of the swivel chairs I have a monogrammed blanket. I swapped out the pillows that match the drapes for some gorgeous lumbars from Jenny’s shop this year.
The bar cabinet sits between the windows. I added a small cedar wreath to the mirror with a command hook and some festive napkins on the silver tray. I buy the ribbon on large spools and use for many things. (3″ double faced satin ribbon)
I keep a small stool in front of each window that we pull around to the table when we need a few more seats. Mother has added to my Christmas book collection over the years – you can find stacks on both stools.
On the final wall, I kept my gallery of oyster paintings that Honey gave me for a birthday many years ago, as well as the boys’ 4-year old portraits. Another cedar like wreath and red ribbon continues the decor to this corner.
We have truly enjoyed this space and I just love sharing it with you. I promise there is more to come!
I hope to be back tomorrow with the den!

I love the wreaths on the pictures. I didn’t see a link to purchase them. Are they something you’ve had for a while?
Thank you! I got them at Kirklands last year.
