Classic Christmas 2025 {Teen Boy Bedrooms}

I’m back today with a peek inside my boys’ bedrooms, all dressed up for Christmas once again. Watching these spaces evolve over the years has been such a joy. They still feel festive and nostalgic, just a little more grown up with each passing season.

John’s room continues to lean colorful and classic at Christmas, filled with special pieces he’s had for years. Not much changed decor-wise this season, and honestly, that feels right. His room is layered with memories and I love that it still feels like him.

The Pottery Barn sheets are still going strong after all these years, and this Christmas I pulled a few plaid pillows up from downstairs to add a little extra coziness. Over his bed hangs the limited-edition print from The Old Try, which always feels especially fitting during the holidays.

The desk Honey purchased back in 2020 has had quite the life. What started as Honey’s work-from-home solution quickly became John’s, and now they trade it back and forth depending on who’s in town. They both swear it’s the perfect size.

The antique dresser, which once lived in his nursery, is still hanging on. On top sit more of my nutcrackers, including the tiny red one I used when I danced Clara in Ballet South’s 1993 production. That one still makes me smile every year.

Looking toward the lounge area, this remains one of John’s favorite spots. The reindeer pillow from his first Christmas and the bear from his thirteenth birthday trip to New York City are tucked away most of the year, but I always bring them back out for the holidays. Mr. Grinch, another childhood favorite, holds a place of honor too. He originally belonged to Marme and Daddy-O, but John claimed him long ago, and there were many enthusiastic dances to his song in those early years.

On the coffee table sits a book from his very first Christmas and another small New York memento.

His bookcase holds a stocking Mother made for him years ago and a light-up sign from his Christmas-themed sixteenth birthday.

A few years ago he had collected enough ornaments for a full sized tree in his room! Every ornament tells a story of a trip, a milestone, an age or stage, or a gift from someone who loves him.

Whit’s room continues to be a work in progress and I cannot wait to share its everyday look soon. This year brought new bedding pieces, ski and golf art, and a new bookshelf, all reflecting how much his interests have grown and shifted.

Last year we ordered ski-themed Christmas bedding that didn’t arrive in time, so we were excited to finally see it make its debut this season. Instead of the colorful garlands we’ve used in the past, I opted for simple red-and-white garlands that had previously lived out in the cabana, hung easily with command hooks.

We’ve always given the boys an ornament each year that reflects something meaningful from that season of life, along with ornaments collected during travels, usually our only souvenir. My parents continue the tradition of gifting dated nutcrackers each Christmas, and Whit’s school-made ornaments still hold pride of place. One of my favorite touches is the colorful garland I made for his tree out of old Disney MagicBands.

On the other side of the room sits his dresser, which once belonged to Honey as a child, and the chair we temporarily relocate to make space for the tree. When we revamped the room, we moved Whit’s Anna and Elsa paintings to a quieter corner. He wasn’t quite ready to part with them altogether, and I completely understand.

The felt garland from Pottery Barn still hangs nearby, along with another piece of Whit’s artwork. It’s hard to believe he was just four years old when he carried it home, and now here we are, celebrating Christmas with a seventeen year old. His bedside table gets a few festive touches as well, and the final view of the room looks toward his bookshelf, filled with favorite reads and meaningful keepsakes.

And, finally, the last angle of the room is towards his new bookshelf.

The last space to share is coming right up. Next stop: the grown-up bedrooms.
