Classic Christmas Home Tour 2025 {Living Room}

We’re now almost three years into living with this reimagined room, and it has become the a new heart of our home. One of my goals for the new year is finally sharing updated “everyday” photos and full sources because this space is truly where life happens for us… morning coffee, evening TV, late-night games, and the occasional cocktail for two.

It was such a joy to decorate this room again this year. I kept things simple and classic, letting the room shine rather than overpowering it with too much “extra.” Because I can never resist the magic of white twinkle lights, I draped cedar garlands across the tops of the bookcases and tucked in lights. It is such a warm, nostalgic glow in the evenings.

As always, I pulled down our everyday photos and replaced them with eighteen years of Santa pictures, each framed in silver. I only bring them out at Christmas, and every year their arrival is a walk down memory lane. Remembering the years John screamed, the one with a days-old Whit bundled in Santa’s arms, the john johns, the gap-toothed grins, and all the joy tucked inside each season.

Because we truly live in this room, I keep the tabletops functional. On the sideboard, I often set out snacks or drinks when we have friends over. For Christmas, I styled a single silver tray with our German smokers, a candle, and a few favorite card games. The Frame TV artwork is a gorgeous winter scene I found on etsy.

The coffee table holds just one piece: the Christmas pyramid I brought home from Germany. It clears off in seconds for games, puzzles or boys home from college stretching out with snacks. I’m missing several of the candles this year… which feels very on-brand for this stage of life. Honey says he is going to start wood working in the New Year, and I’ve asked he put these at the top of his list. :-)

The swivel chairs are dressed with monogrammed blankets because really, is there anything cozier?!

The bar cabinet sits between the windows. I added a small cedar wreath to the mirror with a command hook and some festive napkins on the silver tray. I buy the ribbon on large spools and use for many things. (3″ double faced satin ribbon)

I keep a small stool in front of each window that we pull around to the table when we need a few more seats. Mother has added to my Christmas book collection over the years – you can find stacks on both stools.

On the final wall, I kept my gallery of oyster paintings that Honey gave me for a birthday many years ago, as well as the boys’ 4-year old portraits. Another cedar like wreath and red ribbon continues the decor to this corner.

We have truly enjoyed this space and I just love sharing it with you. I promise there is more to come!

I hope to get pictures of the den this weekend!
