December is absolutely flying and I’m still trying to make my way through sharing Christmas tour photos. Today I’m back with two little spaces that bring me so much joy this time of year – my office and the connected powder room.
Office Colorful Christmas Decor
I spend so many hours in this room, and as usual, I leaned straight into pink because… why not? I can always use more pink in my life and Christmas is the perfect excuse.
Mother gave me the cutest desk plaque, truly one of my favorite little surprises ever, and every time I sit down I grin and say to myself, “Holiday Cheer Captain clocking in!” It’s such a fun touch.
A row of nutcrackers from my parents’ collection lines the credenza. They’re nutcracker-themed nutcrackers (my favorite kind) and they make for a pretty charming background during Zoom calls. Of course I had a few comments in early December – “you’re already decorated????” Yes, maam!
My Lilly-themed tree is perched inside my Lilly book basket again this year and I love having the glow of twinkle lights while I’m working before sunrise. I usually get going around 5:30 AM, and that tiny tree feels downright magical at that hour. The topper belonged to my grandma, a pink and gold gem I treasure, and the ornaments are a mix from Lilly Pulitzer and Etsy. The sweet angel tucked inside was made by CeeCee years ago, and it warms my heart every time I see it.
Where I usually hang my boys’ old advent calendar, I have something even sweeter this year – the reindeer painting Whit made on a sick day back in 2017. It lived in his room for ages, but he’s outgrown it now, and I was delighted to bring it into my workspace. Above that hangs our Christmas box photo collection from last year. It makes this wall feel playful and full of life.
The dresser in here is mostly for storage, so I keep the decor simple with just a few swapped pieces for the season. The tinsel trees Mother, Sister, and I made years ago are still going strong. John made the art years ago and it is still one of my all time favorites. Neither of my boys were particularly “artsy,” so the few pieces I have that feel thoughtful and intentional mean the world to me. I know some of you can relate! The mirror holds my beloved Lindsay Letters 12 Days of Christmas tags.
There are days when this job makes me want to pull my hair out (I’m looking at you, yesterday!), but most days I feel incredibly lucky to work right here at home, puppies curled at my feet, surrounded by things I love.
Powder Room Classic Christmas Decor
Just off the office sits our tiny powder room. It’s always tricky to photograph! But it gets a little dose of Christmas too.
Once again, I added a small wreath to the mirror with a red velvet bow.
Holiday soaps and monogrammed guest towels keep things easy and festive without overwhelming the space.
On the small wall shelf, I added the miniature painting Sister gave me years ago in memory of Matthew, along with a Christmas diffuser and a seasonal candle. Just a few thoughtful touches that bring holiday cheer into even the smallest corner of the house.
