One of my favorite Christmas gifts this year came straight from my kitchen-loving heart. Honey gave me Ivy Odom’s My Southern Kitchen cookbook, and it was love at first flip.
If you don’t know Ivy, you should. I first found her through the Southern Living Instagram account and immediately fell for her. She is darling, Southern through and through, a great storyteller, authentic and just plain fun to watch.
As I shifted gears from Christmas to New Year’s, I knew I wanted to bring along something homemade for the ladies we were celebrating with. I decided to make small versions of Ivy’s favorite pound cake and wrap them up as individual gifts.

I baked the cakes in my small bundt pans, wrapped them in clear cellophane, and tied them with black ribbon. Of course, I couldn’t resist adding one extra touch. I used my Cricut to add “2026” in gold to the ribbon. They were the perfect little hostess gifts and traveled beautifully. Both friends texted me on January 1 to say how wonderful the cakes were and how much they enjoyed them, which is always the very best compliment.
A few days later, I baked a full-size version just for us at home, and oh my word. This pound cake is everything you want it to be. I have shared several pound cake recipes over the years, but I am fully convinced I will never need another one. This is the one.
You can find the recipe here:

And because I always get asked, here are the supplies I used for gifting:
– Clear cellophane roll
– Small cake rounds
– Small bundt pans
I’ve already made two other recipes from My Southern Kitchen and I have a feeling Ivy will be making many appearances on my menus all year long!

Thank you for sharing this information. What is the size of your mini bundt pan? How many cups? Thank you.
The pan says 6 cups. I’m still playing with it. The first time I split the batter evenly between 2 small bundt pans. It was too much – it didn’t spill over into the oven, but it did rise above the edge of the pan and then the bottom cracked off some. The second time I did 3 cups in each and it was too little – didn’t rise all the way to the top of the pan. I’m thinking 3.5 cups in each pans is what I’ll try next. The problem is that that doesn’t use all the batter.
I’m not Southern, but I LOVE Ivy Odom. Every post is so fun, personal and creative. I’ll have to try this pound cake.
That cake sounds delicious. I have a favorite pound cake recipe, I’ll have to compare the two, but I think this one will win hands down.
Report back!
A friend and I went to her book signing last fall at Dillard’s and she is even more lovely in person! Her husband was there as were her Mom and Dad visiting with those of us while we waited in line and they were all so southern and friendly and charming, too! Now I need to make this pound cake! So many recipes I want to try in her cookbook.
That is so sweet! I was out of town when she came. Really would have loved to meet her.
