This week’s Sunday Supper is something I should have shared months ago, back when I was making it on repeat and it felt like the perfect fall treat… honey bourbon butter.
Fifteen months into my sourdough journey and I am still fully obsessed. I am baking multiple times a week, and this little addition has become one of my favorite ways to elevate a fresh loaf.
I made several batches this past fall to give away with homemade sourdough, and it was always such a hit. It is rich, slightly sweet and just feels decadent… all while being incredibly simple to make. And, while fall has passed, this could be a fun one for your Derby festivities.

Honey Bourbon Butter
1 cup salted European-style butter (I like Plugra)
1/4 cup honey
1 tablespoon bourbon
Let the butter soften to room temperature, then mix in the honey and bourbon until smooth. That’s it.
As I type this, I have a loaf going right now and cannot wait to slice into fresh bread tomorrow with a generous smear of this on top.

With all of this month’s festivities, I have not been doing much cooking, but I made a big grocery run today, got a meal plan in place and am ready to get back into the rhythm. A sweet friend gave me the VeryVera Cookbook for my birthday and I have a few things already on the menu!
