There is no sound that can wrench me out of sleep quicker than someone throwing up in the middle of the night. Who’s with me? Well, Friday night it wasn’t one of the kids but Elsa. Poor baby. She threw up once and then dry heaved a few more times. This is the first time she’s been sick in two years and I was terrified… I mean, I am really out of my league when it comes to raising a puppy. I stayed up with her all night and then Honey took her to the vet first thing in the morning. She wouldn’t eat anything and really wasn’t drinking either. Well, as soon as he walks in the vet she totally perked up and immediately took treats from the tech. Since we didn’t have an appointment, they asked us to leave her for observation for the day and so that a vet could check her out between appointments. She was there from 8am until they called us to come get her around 3pm. They said she was perfectly fine, ate some wet food, had a bowel movement and they found nothing wrong with her. They sent us home with a few cans of the wet food and instructions to give her that for a day and then to start mixing in her regular food to get her back on track. Well, last night she threw up again twice so I’m really not sure what is going on. She is a little lazier than usual this morning but not in an alarming sense. She has eaten a little twice (we are parsing it out so we can really monitor what she has eaten and when) and has not vomited yet.
