I love surprising the littles with sweet afternoon treats. This hot chocolate with a cool whip heart has been one of my go-tos for years now. And, given the frigidly cold temps we’ve had this week, it was the perfect week for it.
It’s so simple and I do them for St. Patrick’s Day too! Here’s how:
- Thaw your tub of cool whip in the fridge overnight.
- Stir in a few drops of food coloring.
- Line a 8×8″ square pan with parchment or foil. Spoon in the colored cool whip.
- Refreeze. Lift the parchment from the pan and use a cookie cutter slightly smaller than the size of your mug to cut the shapes. If needed, use a knife to gently lift the shapes and slide on top of your hot chocolate.
- Easy peasy and SO yummy!
My littles also ADORE homemade pretzels. And by “homemade”, I totally mean from a box mix. I shaped them into hearts this week and found it even easier than trying to make a pretzel knot :-).
Now, speaking of hot chocolate and things I love, my new Keurig is right at the tippy top of my list. Hello, lover. More to come on that.
The baby is doing his Valentine exchange today, and John’s is Friday. I think we are going to make a good, fancy din din at home Saturday night to celebrate. I’m still trying to do decide if we invite the littles or relegate them to the upstairs :-)
