My First Disney Birthday!

Hold on to your seats because this is going to sound unbelievable… for the first time ever I celebrated my birthday in Walt Disney World!! I know it’s not what most 49 year olds would dream of, but it’s been on my bucket list for literally forever. We never have this time off school and it has always been peak sports season for my boys. When I realized my birthday was on a Saturday and I only have one sports schedule to work around I knew this was my chance.

This weekend was part of a larger trip with my sister’s family and parents and I’ll share all the details on that leg soon. While my sister’s family had to get home for dance and such, my parents were excited to stay and join in on the festivities. Honey and Whit also joined for the weekend. I was only missing John, but there was no way I’d drag him to Disney over his first college spring break :-)

We checked in at Animal Kingdom Lodge bright and early Friday morning, dropped our bags and were off to Epcot. It was a picture perfect Disney day. We enjoyed the Flower and Garden Festival, rides and a festive lunch at Biergarten.

We checked into our grand villa at Animal Kingdom Lodge in the late afternoon.

We spent the rest of the evening watching animals, playing pool, card and board games. We ordered one of my favorite dinners to-go (Sanaa) to enjoy in the room. And, capped off our evening with prosecco and birthday cake. It was perfect!

Saturday morning started with coffee and animals!

And then we were off to Magic Kingdom!

We spent most of the day here, enjoying all the rides and lunch at Cinderella’s Royal Table.

We had a couple of hours break back at the room…

… and then we were off to dinner at another favorite – Topolino’s Terrace. It was delicious and practically perfect in every way!

We spent the rest of the night playing games!

It was my favorite birthday yet, made even more special by having my parents join us. We are not officially on the countdown to FIFTY!
