Matthew

November 22, 2022November 22, 2022

It has been fifteen years since the Thanksgiving morning when I delivered my stillborn son, Matthew. He was the tiniest baby I’d ever seen, and also the most perfect. I treasure the few hours I had to hold him, and used every second of that time to memorize his face, hold his little hand in… Read More

HOCO 2022 {Neon Light Photo Wall}

November 11, 2022November 9, 2022

I’m back today with more details on little projects from our HOCO Picture Party. I am SO SO SO beyond happy with how this spot turned out and the kids absolutely loved it! We wanted to have a variety of spots for the kids to take pictures and this one was the crowd favorite. It… Read More

HOCO 2022 {Junior Picture Party}

November 9, 2022November 9, 2022

Sometimes I cannot believe how fast the days pass us by. In the blink of an eye, my precious little one that used to run around in john johns playing with Thomas the Train is a junior in high school. I had the great honor of hosting the picture party and have been SO excited… Read More

HOCO 2022 {Festive Fun}

November 8, 2022November 9, 2022

John’s school celebrated homecoming week last month with the pomp, circumstance and well intended debauchery I remember from my teen years. You see, homecoming week is also junior v senior prank week around here. Our house was rolled not once, not twice, but THREE times. The kids had the best time heading out on missions.… Read More

Quick Lacrosse Trip to Birmingham

November 5, 2022November 7, 2022

For the first time EVER my boys are playing the same sport for the same team and I couldn’t be happier. That three year age gap has never before allowed for this! Whit is trying lacrosse for the first time since early elementary school and John decided to hang up his stick on his elite… Read More

Fall in the South

October 8, 2022October 10, 2022

Fall in the south is synonymous with a few things. Top of mind for me is football and apple season. And, on that front, we have enjoyed the quintessential fall weekend! Last night we cheered on the home team under the Friday night lights. The Raiders didn’t put up the W, but it was still… Read More

Humility

September 22, 2022September 21, 2022

Earlier this year I found the Litany of Humility on Whit’s desk. It came at a perfect time for our family and has led to many important and provoking conversations since. Like the beatitude says, humility is “poverty of spirit.” It helps us acknowledge our own defects and have a “lowly” opinion of self, not… Read More

Some nights just deserve a place on the grid. 🎻⚡️ Some nights just deserve a place on the grid. 🎻⚡️

Whit had the incredible honor of learning from and performing on stage with Mark Wood… original electric violinist for Trans-Siberian Orchestra, creator of the iconic Viper electric violin and composer known for blending classical music with rock energy in the most unforgettable way.

And unforgettable is exactly what this night was.

Symphonic rock. Hard rock. Heavy metal. A full stage of student musicians absolutely pouring their hearts into every note with so much confidence, passion and energy.

And then there was Whit… featured cellist during Carry On Wayward Son, which already held a spot on my all-time favorites list before this night. Watching him up there completely in his element was one of those proud mom moments I know I’ll hold onto forever.

I know this video is long and maybe a little “mom scrapbook” coded… but this one deserved its square among the memories and adventures.🤍
