The ladies were back together in 2024 for our Moms Merry Little Night Out and Favorite Things Party. My favorite mom group dressed up in the jammies and comfy clothes, brought a “Favorite Thing” for a gift exchange and enjoyed food, cocktails, friendship and fellowship.
The time between Thanksgiving and Christmas felt short this year and I wanted to keep things as easy as possible for these busy moms. And so… we did our favorite things from Trader Joe’s! Everyone brought two of their favorite thing – one prepared for us all to sample and enjoy and a second of that same thing for the exchange. I prepared the island with a piece of poster paper and left markers for everyone to write in the details of their dish.
Since I wasn’t making a dinner like usual, I did two signature cocktails! They were a huge hit and we had so much fun serving them up.
I felt a little like a slacker this year but it turned out to be a HUGE hit. We all discovered new, fun items from Trader Joe’s. I’ve already served a few since then! Everyone said it was the easiest, most stress free gathering of their season! It was such a wonderful evening and set the tone for a joyful holiday month.

Love this idea!!! Definitely makes for a fun and stress free nite. Please share everyone’s favorites from TJ’s and how they prepared their favorite. Always love reading your blogs! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and your sweet family!!!
Such a cute idea! And could you tell me where you got your darling pjs??
Thank you! Elizabeth Wilson last year.
Love this idea Amanda! Fun and stress-free with everyone’s Trader Joes favorites. Have you ever tried TJ’s cheese straws? Besides, the ones at Publix (which are my #1) they are so good. just wanted to comment and tell you how I really love how you redesigned and reimaged your kitchen and formal dining area. I am really thinking about have a built-in done with a top lighted china cabinet but also a serving area like yours.
Also, I bought two of the waxed Amaryllis at TJ’s early in the month and they have just started to open and are simply beautiful! I will only buy the waxed from now on because they require no water and are so much easier to care for. You can remove the wax after they finish blooming and store the bulb for transplanting outside when it gets warm.
Thank you! I have not tried their cheese straws but love the recommendation. My amaryllis are still going – I clipped the last few blooms and have them in a vase now. They were gorgeous throughout the season and I completely agree – waxed only!
What a fun idea. Where did you buy your amaryllis??
It was a gift! They are GORGEOUS!
So fun! Two questions: did you ask everyone to wear pj’s and how did you invite friends for this casual gathering and how do you invite them usually? Just a text or email, evites or Punchbowl, or mailed invites?
Yes! We always wear PJs and I just send it to our group text thread that is pretty active.
