Sailing the Disney Wish

Gosh, time flies, doesn’t it?! Here we are in June and I still need to write this recap of my voyage on the beautiful Disney Wish from March. This was my fourth sailing on the Wish and it was spectacular, as always. When Sister’s family booked for their Spring Break and then our parents joined them, I hated to miss out on the fun. It was not our spring break week, but it was the week before my birthday so I asked Honey if I could sail away with the rest of the family. He, of course, said yes and bid me bon voyage :-)

Disney Wish Pre-Stay at Riviera Resort

I flew down to Orlando and stayed one night at the Riviera Resort. Sister’s family was there too, but they hit the parks while I enjoyed the resort. I had the cutest little room, designed for two but perfect for little ol moi. I’ll share more later on that. Monday morning, I met up with Sister and the gang and we were off to port.

Embarkation Day on the Disney Wish

There’s just no feeling like walking on to a Disney Cruise Line ship. They make you feel so incredibly special! I love knowing that there’s nothing ahead but relaxation, fun, family and magic.

As for how we spent the day…. Sister’s family was off to do family things while I headed straight for the Cove Bar with my parents for sail away and pool time. We all reconvened at 1920 for the night’s dinner where they surprised me with birthday cupcakes and the sweetest custom painted button to wear all week long!

Inside Stateroom on the Disney Wish

One of the most special aspects of this particular cruise was not just time with family, but that CeeCee and I had our very own stateroom!!!!! I needed to keep this trip as affordable as possible, so I went with an inside stateroom. It was comfortable but oooofffff we missed the verandah. This stateroom is TINY and I don’t see how you could comfortably sail with more than two in this room. That said, it afforded me the opportunity to sail so it was worth it.

Disney Wish Day at Sea

I LOVE a day at sea and look forward to all of my favorite activities onboard. The day certainly did not disappoint! Highlights included Jay rocking Star Wars trivia, a jaunt to Hyperspace Lounge, animation classes, all manner of trivia competitions and a craft session. Oh, and let’s not forget the copious amounts of ice cream consumed. All of this is included in your trip and all of it is FUN, entertaining and engaging. The only additional cost I had this day was my glass of champagne.

I started the evening with a solo trip to The Rose for a glass of bubbles and some reading. Afterwards, I met up with the family at World of Marvel for dinner, followed by the sensational Little Mermaid live show.

Disney Wish Docks in Nassau

I’ve sailed this itinerary enough times that I don’t even consider disembarking in Nassau. In fact, 95% of my clients don’t either. Instead, we treat it like another full day at sea! I was up bright and early for a massage at Senses Spa (additional cost). Afterwards, the whole fam-bam hit the pool deck for swimming, sun, lunch and movies at sea! Late in the afternoon, Daddy-O treated the adults to his favorite activity – Mixology! We always do this together and it’s always a great time. Before dinner, Cee and I took a little nap in the room.

Our evening started with some live music at The Bayou, and then I met up with my parents for a drink at The Rose. Sister and my BIL joined us for a spectacular adult dinner at Palo (additional cost). While this was the end of my evening, Sister’s family stayed out late for Pirate Night fireworks and the teen clubs. In fact, my little roomie was out every single night until midnight at the club :-)

Castaway Cay Day turned Sea Day

Sadly, due to high winds the Wish was unable to dock at Castaway Cay as planned. It does happen – every vacation is going to have a glitch and it is what you make of it! We allowed ourselves a moment to mourn the loss of our favorite island day and then picked up the Navigator apps and planned a new day. The activities team came out with a full schedule of activities and we did them all! The day started on the pool deck with coffee, churro waffles and movies. We also did trivia classes, animation classes and some shopping. It turned out to be another perfect day!

Our final dinner was at Arendelle (which is my least fave restaurant on any ship, lol). Afterwards, we went to the Aladdin show, which was just amazing and the perfect wrap up to our voyage.

This wasn’t the end of the vacation for me…. from here, Mother, Daddy-O and I were off to Disney World. Honey and Whit had drove in the night before (while we were on the ship) and met us bright and early for my birthday weekend. I shared all of those fun details here: https://dixiedelightsonline.com/2025/03/my-first-disney-birthday.html

  1. Looks like a beautiful ship and a wonderful trip although I would have been so bummed out about missing Castaway Cay. This happened to some friends of ours as well when they cruised in March. We cruised on the Disney Wonder some years ago and I tell adults without children debating to take a Disney cruise because they fear being overrun by children and young people that we rarely saw any children other than dinner because they were so busy going to their own activities and there were also separate pools for families and adults only onboard and a separate beach area as well at Castaway Cay.
