Happy Birthday Marme!

Today we are celebrating my beautiful mother, “Marme,” on her 78th birthday.

I always wish we could celebrate in person, but this year the festivities will have to wait until we see her next month. Thankfully, one of her dear friends is making sure the day is filled with fun, laughter, and being properly celebrated, which brings me so much comfort.

Looking back on 2025, some of my favorite moments all include her. She always shows up. For birthdays, graduations, holidays, performances, trips, and the everyday moments in between, she is there. We are so incredibly blessed to have her so present.

I hope that when I reach my late seventies, I am even half as beautiful, bright, selfless, energetic, fun and creative as my mom is today. She is the definition of grace and joy, and she somehow manages to pour herself into everyone around her without ever seeming tired or depleted.

I say often that I cannot believe God chose me to be the mother of John and Whit. What I don’t say nearly enough is that I also cannot believe God chose me to have a mother like mine. I must be the luckiest girl in the world.

Happy Birthday, Marme. We love you more than words can say and cannot wait to celebrate you properly very soon.

Sunday Snack {Savannah Steak House Cheese Spread}

There is something really special about a recipe woven into family history – one that’s been passed around the table for decades, attached to memories, stories and people you’ve loved your whole life. The Steak House Cheese Spread is exactly that for my family. The original Steak House on Victory Drive in Savannah was a… Read More
