French Country Fall Home Tour {Bedside Chests for the Master}

First things first, if you’re new to Dixie Delights, welcome.  I’m delighted you’re here!  You can learn more about me and this little piece of the internet HERE.

For those that have been around a while, y’all know I’ve been slowly working on an update of our master bedroom over the last couple of months.  I am thrilled to be sharing our new bedside chests today as part of a French Country Fall Home Tour with Soft Surroundings and Romantic Homes Magazine!!

Soft Surroundings provided me with a generous discount and a gift card that I was thrilled to use towards the Flemish Bedside Chests.  I’ve had my eye on these for years and jumped at the chance to bring them home!!

I’ve had the blue and white lamp for about 15 years.  It’s been in my attic for the last 7 because I didn’t really have a place for just one lamp.  So….. after years of asking, Sister was finally ready to part with its twin.  I think they are so perfect on the new chests!

I had more surface area to work with than previously on our old tables, so it was a lot of fun to accessorize them.  The gold vase is a re-purposed candle holder from Target, the china man is the third in the set given to me by Mother, the books are antiques from Mother’s collection, the shell was a gift from bestie P and the frame is from Target.  Bestie M purchased the garden stool from Home Goods and passed it along to me when she decided she couldn’t use it. I never have that kind of good luck at Home Goods.

I arranged the flowers sticking to my five tips for easy DIY flower arrangements.  You can read all about them and watch the video HERE!  And look at the patina on the chest here.  It’s sooooo gorgeous!

Since I’m not one to purchase a lot of furniture online, I was extremely pleased to find these pieces really well made, extremely sturdy and pretty easy on the eyes.  I love having drawers on each side of the bed for storage, as the tables we previously used had none.  I particularly love this feature for Honey’s side of the room.  Y’all wouldn’t believe the pile of stuff he keeps over there.  It’s like a landmine and I do not know how he hasn’t broken his neck in the middle of the night.  I realize that I’m reaaaaaally carrying on about the drawers, but I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention that I LOVE how they do that soft close thing… you know, where you close about 90% and then they glide in to the 100% mark.  That thing.  I love it.

Moving right along to Honey’s spiffed up side, I almost hid the alarm clock because, let’s face it, it’s not pretty.  BUT, alarms are real life and I do try to be authentic.  I turned his current reads backwards on the table to make them blend in more.  He did tell me that his flower arrangement needed to go (men!) so it promptly found a new home on the kitchen table where it can be enjoyed by all.

The whole time I was photographing the room this little monkey was hiding on the other side of the bed…  he actually scooted under it for the pic above.

… and this one was rooting around in the duvet.  Neither are ever very far.  <3

I’ve still got a few more updates to share in the coming weeks (months?) but you can see my progress in these posts:

With that, it’s only 6AM but I’m already counting down the hours until I can get my fave Indian food from the Coke cafe and lock myself in my office to read the rest of the posts from today’s line up!

Musings

It’s been a month since my last roundup of random musings.  So buckle up… it’s going to be a scatterbrained ride. If you’ll remember, back in 3rd grade John was elected by his classmates for student council but his awful teacher said he was “too bad” to get the position.  (I try not to remember anything about… Read More

The Compassion Experience

After mass yesterday we took the littles to The Compassion Experience.  Through the stories of two real children, we were immersed in other cultures, deeply saddened by the realities of growing up in poverty, and inspired to help.  The audio tour guides your family through the sights and scenes of daily life in three different impoverished countries.… Read More
