Forty-two Questions

December 20, 2010July 30, 2015

This past Thanksgiving I introduced a fun new tradition to our family meal.  We passed around a bowl of questions throughout the meal.  When the bowl came to you, you picked your question, read it aloud and answered it.  The premise behind the “game” is that sometimes the people you are closest to are the… Read More

One is Silver, The Other is Gold

December 20, 2010July 30, 2015

One day, long, long ago, I was a Brownie.  Probably the most unlikely candidate ever to step foot in a Girl Scout meeting.  I don’t camp, I’m not keen on the great outdoors, I look ghastly in brown and orange, I despise decor made out of yard and popsicle sticks and, while I count down… Read More

Rudolph the Red Nosed Cookie

December 18, 2010July 30, 2015

Scout was busy busy this week and the kids continue to loooove his sweet little treats. Reindeer Cookies Scout stayed up late and pre-baked the cookie faces so that he could leave all the decorating fun and none of the waiting to bake work for the littles.  What a kind and thoughtful elf! Here’s what… Read More

Tears and Tinker Toys

December 17, 2010July 30, 2015

I am that mom.  The mom who is SO proud of her child that her heart becomes SO full that the only way to keep it from bursting is to let the pressure out in the form of tears.  I am the mom, the only mom I saw, that cried at the class Christmas performance. I watched my big, 5… Read More

Ho-Ho-Holiday Cocktail

December 16, 2010July 30, 2015

I made this festive and yummy holiday cocktail last weekend, compliments of Southern Living. The recipe called for vodka, but when I was mixing it up on Sunday I realized I was out.  Hmmm…I’m slightly embarrassed to admit that I don’t remember finishing it off!?!?  Amaretto made a delicious substitution – so good that I… Read More

More Elfin Magic

December 14, 2010July 30, 2015

Now, where did we leave off?? When I committed (to myself) to come up with a special treat from our elf Scout each day, perhaps I didn’t totally think that through.  I often find myself getting out of my warm bed waaay too late at night to search my pantry and craft supplies to come… Read More

Some nights just deserve a place on the grid. 🎻⚡️ Some nights just deserve a place on the grid. 🎻⚡️

Whit had the incredible honor of learning from and performing on stage with Mark Wood… original electric violinist for Trans-Siberian Orchestra, creator of the iconic Viper electric violin and composer known for blending classical music with rock energy in the most unforgettable way.

And unforgettable is exactly what this night was.

Symphonic rock. Hard rock. Heavy metal. A full stage of student musicians absolutely pouring their hearts into every note with so much confidence, passion and energy.

And then there was Whit… featured cellist during Carry On Wayward Son, which already held a spot on my all-time favorites list before this night. Watching him up there completely in his element was one of those proud mom moments I know I’ll hold onto forever.

I know this video is long and maybe a little “mom scrapbook” coded… but this one deserved its square among the memories and adventures.🤍
