Deck the Halls 2018 {Den + Office} & Winners

I’m back today with the holiday tour of our den and family office!  Along with the kitchen, these are our most used rooms of the house and I love to make them as merry and festive as possible.

I swap out a lot of photos and decor with Christmas favorites this time of year.  I’ve had most of my holiday decor for years, and only add or change a couple of things from year to year.

Over in this corner, you can see the Christmas wreath painting my mother and I made a few years ago.  This is also home to our  record player that is almost always spinning with the Elf soundtrack vinyl.

My plaid pillows were all collected over the years at Homegoods.  Mother made the boys’ silhouette pillows years ago.  They move around the house frequently.

The coffee table always gets a festive flower arrangement and a bowl of mints.  This year I have my grandma’s shiny brites in the pagoda candle holder.  I love seeing them here and that they aren’t just lost on the tree. Get all of my tips and tricks for arranging flowers in THIS VIDEO!

Like Mother, I love tucking holiday books all over the house.  I have spent many Christmas holidays snuggled by the fire reading one of her many Christmas stories.

Over at the fireplace, the stockings are collected from Ballard Designs over the years as our family grew.  The wood monograms on the stockings are from Scrappin Plus.

The tree in our family room holds all of our favorite ornaments.  From little snowmen crafted by tiny hands to ornaments carried home from special vacations, this tree is loaded with memories.  It is always a joy to unbox them at the start of each Christmas season!  I shared last year’s new additions in this post  >>  Our Favorite Souvenirs  << but forgot to take pictures of the ones we collected in 2018.

One of my favorite Christmas things is the magic light wand that is set up to turn on our den tree and garland.  I have given them as gifts a few times and the recipients always, always love them.  <3  All of my other trees are on this Remote Tree Switch.  It is one of the best investments I’ve ever made!!

Over on the TV wall the antlers really work this time of year, although they are a permanent fixture in the room.  :-)  I have some of my grandma’s biggest ornaments in a silver bowl that was my mom’s.

Just like at Halloween, the banquette gets a puzzle for Christmas too!  This one is from the Disney Store.

I had our Christmas card picture printed onto a board (Shutterfly) and absolutely love it displayed here.

The last little piece of the den is over on the wall next to the kitchen.  This Christmas house was designed just for me and I absolutely love the details!

The evenings are my very favorite time in the den.  Everything just glitters with joy and happiness!

I hope y’all are hanging in there.  This is a long post!!  Next is the office.  This is the only room where I stray from red and go with PINK!!!

Over on the dresser I swap out the everyday print for a preppy Christmas print.  You can find the free printable Lilly Christmas bow file HERE.

The 12 days of Christmas bunting is from Lindsay Letters.  It’s so sweet and each one is perfectly detailed.

The office tree doubles as our Advent Tree.  Each night we read the daily scripture and add an ornament to the tree.  It’s one of the sweetest traditions, and you can read all about it here.  I took these pictures before the first day of Advent, but you can see the ornaments we start with here.  Most of these were made by Mother, myself, sweet friends and readers!  We also keep our advent calendar in here.  I fill the pocket each day with a treat or activity for the kids from the elf, Scout.

Now, before I go I wanted to announce the winner of the Lynch Creek Farm Centerpiece Giveaway!!  Congratulations to Sue who wrote “I am a follower on Dixie Travels, and as much as I would love this pretty centerpiece, if I won the centerpiece I would have it sent to my mother in law. She just moved and I imagine she is not doing a lot of Christmas decorating. This would be so pretty on her dining table and give her a spot of Christmas cheer.”  An email address for you didn’t come through so please email me ASAP ([email protected]) with your shipping address so that I can hook you up with timely delivery of your centerpiece.

I am also still hunting for Stacy, the winner for my Christmas Jars book giveaway.    She wrote “I’m already subscribed! Our family loves to randomly bless our teachers throughout the school year with a little treat or lunch. My oldest also has a huge heart for those in need and we always do something like occ or angel tree during the Christmas season.”  Please email me with your mailing address!
