I Love {Charleston Rice Beads}

Sister and I both try really hard to give each other a Christmas gift that we really, really want but wouldn’t necessarily buy for ourselves.  She remembered me mentioning Charleston Rice Beads a few times over the years and was so sweet to give me two strands this year!!   I have loved them for a couple of years now, ever since I learned about them from my friend Disneyfied Ash.

The shape and texture of the beads pay homage to the port city’s history – an economy founded on rice that helped establish an important cultural center in the Southeast and the United States.  Our Charleston Rice Beads are imbued with the spirit of the modern Charleston girl – a creative and independent adventuress.  An instant classic, our Charleston Rice Beads have become The New Pearls.  As always, made in the U.S.A.

Each strand is quite long, measuring 5′ in length, and they come in loads of great colors.  They easily slip over my head when doubled, but there is plenty of room to triple them and they do have a clasp to make that easy.  My two are the shiny gold (I’d rather be shinnnnyyyyy….) and turquoise.  I love that they go with so many things already in my closet and can be worn together or separately or even layered with other pieces.

If I did want an Instant Pot so bad I would definitely ask Honey for a pink or white strand for Valentine’s Day  :-)  And, if you’re headed to Holy City any time soon, these would make a marvelous souvenir (along with a Christmas ornament, of course).

Thanks Sister.  Love you big!!

I’m working a rug for Whit’s room and a few other tiny updates now… Read More
