This has been a very low priority on my list, but I’ve had my eyes open for replacement knobs for these cabinets in my living room for some time now.

I was so excited to find these pretty gold and lucite knobs at Hobby Lobby for $2.50 (on sale) that I grabbed them up before realizing that their base was so much smaller than the ones I was removing. When I took the first one off I realized that I was going to need to cover the whole area with something. So… I put on my thinking hat and realized that a washer would work just fine for this. I measured and then picked these up at Home Depot for 14 cents each.
I used the exact same method to turn them gold that I used on my bedroom chandelier: 2 Simple Steps To An Antique Gold Chandelier Finish
1.coat them with my favorite spray paint in gold leaf
2. Dab on Annie Sloan’s dark wax
It worked like a charm and they look SO pretty on my cabinets. Since I already had the paint and wax, these beautiful knobs cost me $2.65 a piece!
You can see them here in their entirety. I think they are just the perfect little touch of glitz on what was a rather boring lower cabinet.
You can also see how I used this same method to turn my silver chandelier gold in THIS POST!
I need to photograph the whole living room because the last time I did was years ago. Not much has changed, but the pictures lost much of their resolution when I changed blog platforms in 2015.
