Today’s part of my holiday home tour takes us into the living room and dining room. We admittedly don’t use the living room all that much, but I love putting up a tree in here for a few reasons… it is the only place we have a tree visible from the street, it is the first room off of the foyer AND it is the only place I do a coordinated tree rather than collected ornaments in our other rooms.
This is one of the few rooms left that isn’t done in traditional reds and greens at Christmas. I thought about adding red ribbons and some red accents this year but was all tuckered out by that point.
Adding a swath of greenery to the top of sconces is something easy I do throughout my home. My bridal portrait is fading FAST! UGH!
In past years I’ve hung wreaths from the bookcase, but opted for just a simple lit garland this year.
This is as far as I got with adding in the red. A julep cup of straws. HA!
Now, I did switch to a red dining room last year and loved it so much that I did something similar this year.
I used my two silver reindeer (a gift from Sister years ago), blue willow, blue aves, red tartan, silver, crystal and my white plates on the table.
I made the little neck warmers for the reindeer last year!
The tartan napkins and runner were from Home Goods over the last couple of years. I had them monogrammed with my Number Four Eleven initials.
I had Natalie Chang hand letter place cards for the family. This small touch makes such a huge impact! I laminated them and we have used them multiple times since last Christmas.
I made an easy DIY centerpiece all in reds and greens. The flowers are from Costco and Trader Joe’s. You can see exactly how I did it and get all of my tips and tricks in my Easy Flower Arranging Tips and Tricks Video!
I love my little nativity. It’s one of the very first Christmas decorations I ever purchased, about 18 years ago. It sits under a wreath with a tartan bow on my sideboard.
The next stop on the tour is my family office where I get preppy and pink in every way possible!!
