First things first, snow days are much more appreciated in the South during the week so we can miss a little school and work, ya know?! Second, I sure wish I could be as wrong at my job (and keep said job) as Atlanta’s meteorologists continue to be. (Speaking of meteorologists, I do follow two called Firsthand Weather and iWeatherNet and both are much more reliable than the guys on tv. That being said, I still got swept up in the tv promise of a marshmallow world in the city.) At 11PM on Friday night tv was promising 5″ of snow in my neck of the woods. At 3AM I rolled over, remembered the snow and popped out of bed to find….. NOTHING! HA! Same at 7AM. Oh well. We made the most of our day with absolutely nothing on the agenda since the whole city shut down in anticipation.

While the yard got just a light dusting, the street was pretty icy.
Elsa LOVES snow!!! This was the one split second I caught her standing still. It makes her WILD!!!
More of the same in the back, but the golf course got a good coating.
John was excited to play basketball…. until he realized the net froze. Hahaha!
Whit lasted 2.5 seconds. Just long enough for a quick pic. Then he had to immediately join me by the fire inside and warm up with hot cocoa. His mama’s child for sure.

Honey did take the littles down to a big hill on the course for sledding with some neighbors. I stayed home and continued by binge watch of The Crown. (Highly recommended) They came barreling in hollering for more hot chocolate.
As for the rest of the day, we cooked, ate, played games, ate, cooked, watched tv, ate and then ate some more. John made eggs…
I continued practicing perfecting pancakes for my 40×41. I think I’ve got it, by golly!!!

The baby crashed after her morning running wild in the yard.
We started and finished another 1000 piece puzzle!
Busted!

And we wrapped up our day with my first dinner from my new Cooking for Jeffrey cookbook. (Recipe to come)
All in all, it was a grand day, lack of snow and all. It will bleed into tomorrow as even our church is closed! If you haven’t seen my winter favorites, look here for how we survive harsh winters in the South (haha).
I hope y’all are staying safe and warm out there! Fingers crossed we can get at least one real snow before spring!!
