Deck the Halls 2017 {The Porch}

I’ve had the house decorated since before Thanksgiving and am finally going to wrap this thing up today with a tour of the porch!

In the “living room” space I kept the blankets originally put out around Halloween.  They are perfect for cozying up on our (usually) not too frigid Southern nights.

I made the burlap canvas with glittered initial years ago and hang it over the mantle every Christmas.  {see that project here}  Greenery, lights and stockings keep things simple but festive.

My bestie gave me the fun door hanger last year.  One says Merry and the other Bright.

Looking towards the rest of the porch, you can see I added a tree in the corner, a super lazy chalkboard and a little centerpiece on the table.

I filled the shell bowl with greenery and I meant to add candles but literally just now noticed looking at these pictures that I never did.  haha!  The brass reindeer were hand-me-downs from Mother.

Over on the buffet table I set up our s’mores bar.   I don’t leave this food out night and day.  I usually store it in the kitchen cabinet in these containers and then bring it out when we are actually making s’mores.  Our weather has been so crazy I’d probably have rock solid marshmallows and melted chocolate if I did.  Not to mention bugs… ew.

The darling to-go cups are from Natalie Chang.  I got good use out of them when we went caroling this week!

The tree out here is so simple.  It is just inexpensive glass balls and oyster shells.  Honey drilled holes in the shells years ago for this purpose.

Last but not least, I’m burning my favorite Spireside Candles scent for the holidays out here as well.  I purchased this one last year – Wilderness Lodge – but the name is now Sherwood Forest.  It is the same scent.

I can hardly believe that we are just four days away from Christmas.  All of this will be coming down in the next week.  I don’t know about y’all, but I wake up on December 26 wanting a clean slate and clean house.

  1. I have the same Vader shirt (yay, Target!)… and ditto to your 30s mom/40s mom comment (I also now am the proud owner of a candy-cane carrying inflatable Lord Vader, but he only stands in the front yard when there’s a new movie release. Today we took the 8th graders to see the film – my second viewing – so he stood guard in front of my classroom instead.). Have you seen the new collection at Kohls? I went searching for the pink sweatshirt today but my tiny store didn’t have it. I think I’m at four different shirts now . Today I wore my “Don’t mess with a princess” Leia. Girl’s gotta have options! Never could’ve predicted this…

    Merry Christmas!

  2. I always enjoy seeing the porch!

My decorations are much simpler this year than usual; I didn’t even do the outside or the porch, my chalkboard is leftover from Thanksgiving, I did my trees and not much else. And yes – on 12/26 I take it all down because we have a 12/30 birthday!

Lovely as always, friend – thank you for sharing! xo

  3. We’re huge Christmas people, and celebrate The Twelve Days of Christmas and Epiphany, so our trees stay up at least until January 6th. I like stretching the gift-giving and magic out over several days instead of having it all over on one day! I’m always kind of sad to see it all gone.

Your porch (like the rest of your beautiful home) is perfect, lots of lovely touches without being over-the-top.

  4. Always enjoy seeing each and every new post, with your Christmas decor being no exception. Your home, especially at Christmas, is simply stunning! From the front porch, all throughout the house, to your back porch, the decorating ideas are bountiful.
Wishing you and all of your family a joyous and blessed Christmas season!!!
