The true star of A & L’s wedding shower was undoubtedly the spritz bar. We wanted something interactive, festive and easy for guests to enjoy throughout the evening. Since the shower was held outdoors on a warm spring night, heavy cocktails didn’t feel quite right. A spritz bar ended up being the perfect solution.
Best of all? It was incredibly simple to put together.
For our shower, we offered three options:
Hugo Spritz
- 3 parts prosecco
- 2 parts elderflower liqueur
- 1 part soda water
- Garnish with mint and lime
Aperol Spritz
- 3 parts prosecco
- 2 parts Aperol
- 1 part soda water
- Garnish with orange
Limoncello Spritz
- 3 parts prosecco
- 2 parts limoncello
- 1 part soda water
- Garnish with lemon
Rather than pre-mixing drinks, we set everything out buffet style so guests could build their own. Not only does this make hosting easier, but people also seem to enjoy creating their own cocktail.
For the ingredients, we used:
- Prosecco
- St-Germain Elderflower Liqueur
- Aperol
- Pallini Limoncello
- Fever-Tree Club Soda
- Fresh oranges
- Fresh lemons
- Fresh limes
- Fresh mint
To elevate the experience, but keep things simple for us hosts, we used these wine glasses.
One of my co-hosts sliced all of the citrus earlier in the day and stored it in the refrigerator until party time. The mint was tucked into a small container with a bit of water to keep it looking fresh.
To help guests, I designed a simple sign with the recipes printed directly on it. This made the setup feel intentional and decorative while eliminating the need to answer the same questions throughout the evening. I designed the graphic at home and had it printed at Walgreens in under an hour. One of my favorite entertaining shortcuts! I also printed the poster on the front of the bar at Walgreens.
The styling itself was intentionally simple. A silver champagne bucket, a wooden board for the garnishes, white flowers tied with black ribbon and a few pretty glasses were all it took to make the setup feel party worthy. We loaded a cooler with ice and a scoop.
What I loved most about this bar was that it felt elevated without being complicated. Everything could be purchased ahead of time, very little prep was required and guests could customize their drinks throughout the evening.
If you’re hosting a bridal shower, baby shower, graduation party, book club or summer dinner party, I cannot recommend a spritz bar enough. It’s beautiful, easy and guaranteed to get guests mingling.
Now excuse me while I look for another reason to serve a Hugo Spritz this summer…
