I published my first post on this little corner of the internet thirteen years ago. John had just turned five and I was sharing the growth chart in our upstairs hallway that now has an entire childhood worth of tick marks.
We are at the commencement of one of the most exciting years in a child’s life, and what feels like one of the most bittersweet for us as his parents. His senior year. Our summers are short here and festivities are already in full swing. It is with such pride, joy, immense love and teary eyes that I give you a peek at my favorite member of the class of 2024.
When his yearbook photos hit my inbox, they took my breath away. This child who I have prayed for, the one who I wiped tears from his eyes and the one who I cheered for in the stands, the one who is almost larger than life is a SENIOR!
As I look towards the weeks and months ahead, I pray that John and his precious friends move towards the future with eagerness and open hearts. I pray that they are not overwhelmed by the college application process and life changing decisions ahead, but that they remain grounded in God’s love and trust that their own perfect path lies just ahead. I pray that friendships grow stronger and that there is time for family too. I pray that his year is full of joy, goodness and memories to last a lifetime.
I have celebrated all the things for all the years and senior year will be no different. It is with the greatest joy and anticipation that I look forward to being present and not letting a single moment slip through my fingers!
