Disney Wish Day 1: Embarkation at Port Canaveral and Set Sail Wish

I have extensively covered off on every square inch of the Disney Wish, dining, experiences and so much more! After having completed my third voyage on the Wish, I thought this time I’d do a day-by-day recap so you can see just what it’s like onboard. We sailed with our extended family of 10 and had a spectacular time. We were beyond thrilled to all sail together again, after a five year lapse. It was just as magical and perfect as every single one of us remembered and you know we are ready to do it all again.

We sailed concierge this time, which elevates the experience SO MUCH! Our cruise began with a brief wait in the concierge lounge at Port Canaveral. We met with the concierge team and then they escorted us straight to the ship as the very first people to board. We were announced in the Grand Hall and the magic had begun!

Concierge guests start their day with an exclusive lunch in 1923. We were promptly seated and devoured the delicious meal. A welcome glass of beer or wine is included!

Concierge staterooms are ready by 12:30 PM so we were able to go straight there from lunch. Our luggage had also been delivered. My family was in a 1-bedroom suite and it was absolutely amazing – beautiful, spacious and luxurious. We spent a little time soaking it all in, settling in, and getting ready for the afternoon!

Next we were off to explore! Since I was the only one that had sailed on the Wish, it was a lot of fun to play tour guide for the group. We eventually made our way to the Set Sail Wish party on the pool deck! It’s always a fun, festive event full of characters. The best part is when they blow the ship horn and you are off on your adventure.

Today, and for the duration of our cruise, we used the concierge lounge as our family gathering spot. On this ship, most concierge staterooms are located just steps away. I never once went in to grab a snack, drink or soak up the sun when I didn’t find the rest of the family there. It was perfect and something we realized we’d been missing all of the other times we’ve cruised together. You can grab a delicious snack, order off the chef-prepared hot menu, have a cappuccino, or enjoy the sun deck all day long. From 5-10pm each evening, guests enjoy complimentary open bar!

There are three main dining rooms and each guests is rotated to enjoy each one during their cruise. I love this! Our first night we dined in 1923. It was Jay’s 14th birthday and that’s what he picked. The concierge arranged it for us, along with assisting with the most darling Donald celebratory cupcakes. 1923 is actually my favorite of the three Wish restaurants. It is just much quieter than the others.

After dinner the kids were off to kid/tween/teen clubs. Honey and I went to one of our favorite games (Majority Minds), while some of the others went to the Seas the Adventure Show (I’ve seen it twice, and Honey once, but I DO recommend going!). We eventually met up with the rest of the adults in the concierge lounge for drinks and a soak in the hot tub.

Our stateroom steward fixed up all the beds for us while we were at dinner. And, I capped off my evening with a luxurious soak in this wonderful tub.

The boys finally made it back between 12 and 1AM. They were having a BALL themselves!

Cucumber Creation

This can hardly be called a recipe, and certainly doesn’t qualify for Sunday Supper but we love recreating something we enjoyed eating at home. After telling Whit about the delicious cucumber at The Garden Room, he was dying to try it – and wanted to make it. We did a little research and came pretty… Read More

Whispering Canyon Cafe at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge

Whispering Canyon Cafe at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge is one of our long-time favorites!
