Stars & Stripes

For me, patriotic decor is right up there with Halloween and Christmas! I love driving through the neighborhood this time of year to see so many flags flying high. I usually put mine up from mid-June to mid-July, only because I have so many other door hangers I love to rotate through before and after.

I have used the same buntings and smaller flags for quite a few years. I store all of this in a closet in the garage and it really doesn’t take up a lot of room there. I should have waited a day or two for the wrinkles in the flag to fall out before taking pictures, I suppose.

The darling firecracker door hanger is from Bronwyn Hanahan. I love all of her pieces for every occasion throughout the year.

I still remember seeing Martha Stewart put flags in her pots many, many years ago. Best idea ever! I’ve done it every year since.

Everything is so green here and growing like weeds. (The weeds are also growing… sigh.) The yard is one part of “homemaking” I don’t love. Mother and Daddy-O work in theirs daily. Maybe a love for that comes with retirement??

Since we are traveling soon, I only put out my patriotic decor on the front porch. If you want to see what I usually do, check last year’s post!

I hope that you and yours have fabulous plans for the Fourth!

While they all love taking to the field, it is really the hours on end in the hotel pool and family dinners that make it so… Read More
